Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services
Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) are mental health services that enable the client to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment, and independent living and community skills that have been impaired by the symptoms of their mental illness.
ARMHS also enables a member to retain stability and functioning if the member is at risk of losing significant functionality or being admitted to a more restrictive service setting without ARMHS.
ARMHS instructs, assists, and supports a member in areas such as:
● Navigating medical, dental, mental health, PCA, and substance use services and needs.
● Handling basic life tasks and activities of daily living like maintaining personal hygiene, cleaning, cooking, etc.
● Finding and maintaining stable housing.
● Accessing financial supports and managing a budget.
● Feeling safe going into the community, getting food/goods, and handling transportation.
● Developing healthy relationships and communication skills.
● Overcoming barriers to pursuing education or work.
● Overcoming any issues that are impaired by your mental health symptoms.
Typical ARMHS Session
In a typical session, an ARMHS worker will arrive at the client’s home/community location, and spend anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours working with the client to achieve their ITP goals. During this time ARMHS will coach the client to do things like:
● Identifying and understanding mental health symptoms and the impairments caused by them.
● Learning and practicing skills to address the impairments caused by mental health symptoms.
● Applying those skills in real life situations to achieve personal goals.
● Assessing what worked and what didn’t work to do better next time
ARMHS vs Therapy

ARMHS:
● ARMHS focuses on teaching you to resolve immediate problems to help you change and improve your quality of life.
